The deep groove ball bearing will heat up after starting to operate. However, after a period of time, running at a relatively low temperature (usually 10 - 40 degrees Celsius higher than the room temperature) is normal. The bearing temperature can also vary according to the bearing size, rotational speed, and the heat dissipation conditions of the surrounding environment. During this process, when the bearing temperature shows an abnormal rise without reaching the normal state, we need to consider the following unfavorable factors.
1. Excessive or insufficient lubricant
Countermeasure: Reduce or replenish the lubricant and use it in an appropriate amount. Replace the lubricating oil or grease regularly according to the job requirements, and choose a harder grease.
2. Unsuitable lubricant
If the deep groove ball bearing lubricant does not meet the requirements or is contaminated, and the selected lubricating grease is inappropriate, it will be difficult to form a uniform lubricating oil film, unable to reduce the internal friction and wear of the bearing, resulting in insufficient lubrication and a rise in the bearing temperature.
Countermeasure: Select an appropriate lubricant for bearing lubrication.
3. Abnormal load
Countermeasure: Modify the assembly, study the deep groove ball bearing clearance, adjust the preload, and modify the position of the housing shoulder.
4. Poor installation
Improper installation is another important cause of bearing overheating. Since whether the bearing is installed correctly has a direct impact on its service life and the accuracy of the main machine, it is required that the centerlines of the shaft and the bearing hole must coincide during installation.
Countermeasure: Improve the machining accuracy, installation accuracy, and installation method of the shaft housing.
5. Creep of the mating surface, excessive friction of the sealing device
Countermeasure: Replace the bearing, study the fit, modify the shaft housing, and change the form of the sealing device.
