Materials Used for Low-Temperature Deep Groove Ball Bearings
2025-12-05Low-temperature deep groove ball bearings are made from materials that maintain toughness and strength in cold environments.
1.High Carbon Chromium Steel (Special Heat Treatment)
Conventional bearing steel enhanced through cryogenic or custom heat treatment.
Suitable for medium low-temperature ranges (–30°C to –40°C).
2. Austenitic Stainless Steel (e.g., AISI 304, 316)
Maintains superior toughness at low temperatures.
Does not become brittle, making it ideal for –50°C to –60°C applications

3.Special Alloys (Nickel-based Alloys, Titanium Alloys)
Used for extreme low-temperature environments (–80°C to –196°C).
Commonly applied in aerospace, cryogenic systems, and high-end scientific equipment.
4.Cages and Seals
Materials such as PA, PEEK, PTFE, and fluororubber provide excellent low-temperature resistance.
Prevent brittleness, hardening, or leakage in cold environments.
5.Operating Temperature Range of Low-Temperature Deep Groove Ball Bearings
The temperature range depends on the bearing’s design, material, and lubrication system.
- Standard Low-Temperature Deep Groove Ball Bearings: Operating range: –30°C to –50°C.
- Special Ultra-Low-Temperature Deep Groove Ball Bearings: Operating range: –60°C, –80°C, –100°C or lower
Suitable for outdoor equipment, cold-storage machinery, and winter operating conditions.
Used in: Polar region equipment, Freezing machinery, Aerospace systems, Laboratory equipment (e.g., liquid nitrogen environments)
